Our history

Founded in 1983 by Maurizio Testi, AT Motors is located in the heart of Italy’s Motor Valley, in Soliera, near Modena. During its first decade, the company focused on manufacturing windings for DC and AC electric motors.

Since the 2000s, AT Motors has primarily focused on the manufacturing of gearless motors, particularly for elevator applications. Since 2009, the company has been managed by Alessandro Testi.

From the second half of the 2010s, AT Motors expanded its collaborations with automotive, marine and e-bike manufacturers, developing expertise in the prototyping and manufacturing of electric motors.

Our approach combines product analysis, engineering support and prototype development, working closely with customers to define the most suitable solution for each application.

In December 2022, AT Motors became part of HPE Group, an industrial group based in Modena that brings together companies with complementary expertise and different core businesses. HPE S.r.l. specialises in engineering and the development of internal-combustion engines, electric motors and electrified systems; Coxa S.p.A. focuses on manufacturing; and Pure Power Control develops and supplies innovative vehicle control systems.

Joining HPE Group has strengthened AT Motors’ technological capabilities and commercial reach, creating opportunities to enter new markets and expand the range of products and services offered.
